FSSAI State License

FSSAI State License

Overview

What is FSSAI?

FSSAI stands for Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. It’s the regulatory body under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare that ensures the safety, quality, and hygiene of food products in India.

All food businesses in India must follow FSSAI rules.

What is an FSSAI State License?

The FSSAI issues three types of licenses based on the size of the business:

1.      FSSAI Basic Registration – for small food businesses with turnover up to ₹12 lakh per year.

2.      FSSAI State License – for medium-sized food businesses with turnover between ₹12 lakh and ₹20 crore per year, operating in one state.

3.      FSSAI Central License – for large businesses, export/import businesses, or those operating in multiple states, turnover above ₹20 crore.

So, the State License is mandatory for medium-sized businesses in a particular state.
