Overview
NGO Darpan (also called NITI Aayog or Darpan registration) is an online registration on the NGO-DARPAN portal, a platform developed by NITI Aayog in association with the National Informatics Centre (NIC). It acts as an interface between Voluntary Organisations (VOs) / NGOs and key Government Ministries, Departments and Bodies, and maintains a single, centralised database of NGOs operating in India.
On successful registration, the organisation is allotted a system-generated Unique ID (UIN / Darpan ID). This Unique ID is required to apply for and receive grants from Central Government Ministries and Departments, and is also a pre-requisite for processes such as FCRA registration / renewal for foreign contributions.
Any Trust, Society or Section 8 Company registered as a non-profit / voluntary organisation can register. Individuals cannot apply. NGOs that wish to seek government funding, CSR support, or build verifiable credibility with donors and authorities typically need Darpan registration.

- Assuming individuals can apply: Only registered Trusts, Societies, and Section 8 Companies are eligible.
- Not updating the profile: Failing to keep the profile current when details change can affect grant eligibility and compliance.
