Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is a government body under the Ministry of Power, India.
Its goal is to promote energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

BEE is best known for:

·         Star Labelling Program on appliances

·         Energy efficiency standards

·         Energy audits

·         Certification of professionals

BEE Registration is the process by which:

·         Manufacturers

·         Importers

·         Traders

·         Service providers

·         Professionals

get officially registered with BEE to sell, certify, audit, or label energy-efficient products/services in India.

Who Needs BEE Registration?

Depending on activity:

1. Manufacturers / Importers

If you make or import products like:

·         Air conditioners

·         Refrigerators

·         Fans

·         TVs

·         Washing machines

·         LED lights

·         Motors, pumps, etc.

👉 BEE Star Label Registration is mandatory or voluntary (depends on product).

2. Companies / Firms

If you provide:

·         Energy auditing services

·         Energy management services

👉 Registration as an Energy Service Company (ESCO) may be required.

3. Professionals

Individuals who want to work as:

·         Energy Auditors (EA)

·         Energy Managers (EM)

Step 3: Apply for Star Label

Upload test reports
Product specifications

Step 4: Approval by BEE

BEE reviews documents

If approved → Star Label issued

A. BEE Star Labelling Registration

For products that carry 1–5 star energy labels

Two types:

Mandatory (ACs, Refrigerators, TVs, etc.)
Voluntary (other appliances)
B. Energy Auditor / Energy Manager Certification

For individuals.

C. ESCO Registration

For companies providing energy-saving projects.

These are required when you register your business/brand with BEE:

          Core Company Documents
 
·         Covering letter on your company’s letterhead.

·         Printout of the online company registration form, signed and stamped.

·         Registration fee and payment receipt.

·         Agreement between BEE & label user on Rs.100 non-judicial stamp paperCompany registration proof

·         Certificate of Incorporation / LLP / Partnership deed.

·         PAN card and GST certificate (business identity and tax proof).

Business Identity & Quality Certificates

·         Trademark/brand certificate (in the name of the label user).

·         ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certificate (latest version).

·         MSME or SSI certificate (if a small-scale industry).

 Authorized Signatory & Verification
·         Authorized Signatory Letter on company letterhead
— name, designation, and specimen signature.

·         Identity and address proof of authorized signatory (where required).

 Product / Model Registration Documents

These are needed when you register a specific product model:

 Testing & Technical Documents
·         Product test report from a BEE-approved / NABL-accredited lab

·         Technical specification sheet or product brochure.

·         Sample of the proposed BEE label (label artwork).

 Regulatory & Manufacturing Proof

·         Copy of BIS license (if applicable for the product category).

·         Factory license / address proof of manufacturing unit.

·         Proof of brand authorization, if the manufacturer is different from brand owner.

 Additional / Optional Documents
 
Depending on product or category, BEE may also ask for:

✔ Declaration from applicant affirming correctness of all information.
✔ Annual turnover or production data summary.
✔ List of certified retailers (for some categories).
